Baker & McKenzie, v.o.s., advokátní kancelár is ‘a prominent team of experienced professionals that always exceeds market standards’. It continues to advise Raiffeisenbank on implementing its new IT infrastructure, including core banking software. Google is a major client, and the team also represents other international corporations such as Unilever and Bristol-Myers Squibb on trade mark matters. Havel, Holásek & Partners s.r.o. has particular expertise in IT law, including outsourcing, implementation, and data protection, and also advises on IT sector competition issues. It is advising IBM on the state treasury’s IT implementation project, as well as other IP and software matters. Practice head Robert Nešpurek ‘always gets the job done’. Senior associate Richard Otevrel is ‘the first port of call for data protection work’ and has a ‘solid understanding of IT law’.

The ‘reliable, concise, and precise’ Hana Gawlasová leads Kinstellar s.r.o advokátní kancelár’s ‘efficient’ TMT practice, which provides ‘prompt, pragmatic, and to-the-point’ advice. Pokorný, Wagner & Partners’ team is primarily a trade marks practice, but also has capability in other TMT matters, including competition and litigation. Squire Sanders, v.o.s., advokátní kancelár acts on a broad range of telecoms issues for T-Mobile Czech Republic, including the impact of EU Directives, competition issues such as single and collective dominance, and the structuring of distribution channels. Other clients include Amdocs, Sonus Networks, and the Prague office also works with the Bratislava office to advise Orange Slovensko. Petr Slach joined Salans Europe LLP.

Weil, Gotshal & Manges focuses on contentious matters. It represented Telefónica Czech Republic in administrative and court proceedings concerning abuse of dominant position, service costing, and universal service, as well as in litigation against the Office for Protection of Economic Competition. It is also advising the Czech Roadway and Motorway Directorate on an IT tender. Managing partner Karel Muzikar leads the practice, which also features Martin Kramar.

Weinhold Legal, v.o.s.understands the client’s needs’ and provides ‘practical solutions’.     The two basic means of dispute resolution in the Czech Republic are judicial proceedings and alternative dispute resolution. Arbitration proceedings, as a form of ADR, is thriving. According to statistics of the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic, one of the three permanent arbitration courts in the Czech Republic and the only one with general jurisdiction, in the year 2000 the mentioned court settled 196 disputes, while in 2009 it settled 1402 disputes (not including disputes settled amicably).
