Tod Kupstas

Principal

Tod Kupstas is a principal in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. With over 25 years of experience, Tod provides his clients with the intellectual property strategies they need to grow, maintain, and thrive. Tod focuses on all stages of patent and patent prosecution, domestic and international patent portfolio management, trademark prosecution, litigation support, and licensing. His clients include a broad range of technologies, such as sensors, AR/VR, human-computer interfaces, automotive, medical devices, data storage, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment, the energy industry, and various consumer products.

Tod began his career at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner for computer network systems and optics. He then spent over a decade working in private practice, helping universities, government agencies, corporations, and individuals obtain and utilize their IP assets, including involvement in cases that went to the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. He has also served as in-house counsel for a large multinational corporation and then a cutting-edge sensing technology startup.
