Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton advises private equity sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, and institutional investors on fund formation, M&A, financing, and exits. The firm provides integrated legal counsel across tax, antitrust, capital markets, and regulatory matters, handling complex global transactions. Team head David Leinwand is a key relationship partner to Warburg Pincus, recently overseeing several transactions in the software and digital infrastructure space. John Kupiec has a strong track record advising on complex, cross-border M&A and is well versed in energy, retail and consumer products-oriented work Matthew Salerno is regularly engaged on public and private M&A, as well as growth equity investments, while Paul Shim is experienced on substantial global carve-outs. Position

Matt Salerno is a corporate partner in the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Matt represents clients in complex domestic and cross border mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, investments, joint ventures, carveouts, and other corporate transactions. He represents clients across a broad range of industries, with particular expertise in the healthcare, consumer, and business services sectors.

Matt has extensive experience leading high-profile private equity transactions, including the $4.25 billion acquisition by Advent International and Warburg Pincus of BioPharma Solutions, the investment by Berkshire Partners and Warburg Pincus in Ensemble Health Partners, the 8.9 billion sale of Summit Health-CityMD's to VillageMD, as well as the sale by TPG of Astound Broadband to Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners for $8.1 billion. Matt has also advised on a number of public company transactions, including representing Medtronic in its $49.9 billion acquisition of Covidien and several other strategic acquisitions.

Career

Mr. Salerno joined the firm in 2001 and became a partner in 2010.
