Career

Amy Hefley is the firm’s Deputy Chair of Litigation and co-chairs the Securities and Shareholder Litigation practice group. She is a seasoned courtroom lawyer with extensive experience representing companies and their officers and directors in all types of securities litigation, ranging from securities fraud class actions, to proxy litigation and appraisal actions, to breach of fiduciary duty and derivative suits in federal and state courts across the country. Amy also represents companies and audit and special committees in internal investigations and advises clients on preventing and responding to operational and corporate compliance issues. In addition to her securities practice, Amy has substantial experience representing companies in a broad range of complex commercial disputes involving contracts, fraud claims, trade secret misappropriation claims, and other business torts, and in energy litigation involving lease termination claims, joint operating and joint development agreements, midstream agreements, and title disputes. Amy has tried cases to a decision on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants and has successfully arbitrated claims in a variety of domestic and international forums.

Amy clerked for Hon. Emilio M. Garza, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2006-07), and Hon. Ewing Werlein, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas (2004-06).

Secured a major trial victory after a seven-day trial for Computer Sciences Corporation in a trade secrets lawsuit against Tata Consultancy Services Limited.
Represented Mastercard in a two-week long jury trial in which Linkable Networks alleged that Mastercard stole its trade secrets and confidential information in breach of the parties’ contract in order to improperly compete with respect to credit card linked offers to cardholders.
Secured a verdict of over $43m in compensatory and punitive damages in a partnership dispute related to cannabis cultivation in Santa Barbara County.
