Career
Ilgaz is a senior associate at Baysal & Demir, with a focus on insurance/reinsurance and dispute resolution including product liability matters. He advises reinsurers in the English and European markets on regulatory and contentious matters of Turkish law, as well as advising local insurance companies in Turkey.
He specialises in policy and reinsurance coverage, advising and representing reinsurers in highly complex claims related to financial crimes, construction and engineering failures, machinery breakdown, and aviation, among other areas, under first and third party liability policies including bankers’ blanket bonds.
Besides disputes relating to product liability, he also guides multinational clients to carry out necessary product recall measures according to the particularities of the relevant sector, such as life sciences, technology, food and household equipment.
He has also considerable experience in representing clients in international commercial arbitrations where he has acted for clients in respect of post-acquisition disputes, defect liability, workmanship contract breaches and machinery breakdowns.
