Holland & Knight México, S.C.'s Mexico office has been undertaking a rebuild of its contentious capability over the course of the last 12 months. Having brought in partner José Antonio Vázquez Cobo (financial services litigation and shareholder disputes; class action litigation and arbitration; real estate disputes) and associate Gustavo Galindo Flores (civil and commercial litigation) in August 2024, the firm has since brought in a contentious tax team from Kuri Breña, Sánchez Ugarte y Aznar consisting of tax litigation specialist Julio Freyssinier Isoard, along with associate Erika Ka-Yiang Wu Estrada (tax controversy and litigation) and a law clerk (effective as of October 2025). They join senior counsel Daniel Jimenez (administrative, civil, commercial and white-collar litigation, plus arbitration procedures), and experienced senior associate Luis Miguel Melgar Fong who focuses on administrative litigation. While it remains to be seen how the new team will bed in, certainly it appears that the practice group now has the skill sets and experience to constitute a growing presence in the sector. Former associate Sofia Alcántara left the firm in July 2024.
