Position

Darryl is a partner in the marine, trade and energy team in the London office and a key member of the emergency response team. He is one of the few shipping lawyers who specialise in both ‘wet’ and ’dry’ work from collisions, salvage, groundings, total losses, fires and piracy through to charterparty disputes and claims arising under bills of lading.

Based in Norway for one year and in Singapore for five years, Darryl receives instructions from salvors, container lines, dry bulk and tanker owners as well as charterers, traders, P&I clubs and other insurers.

Advised on a matter concerned an explosion in two holds in November 2024 of the ANGLO MARIE LOUISE shortly after departing Baltimore for China with a cargo of coal. The Vessel put back to Norfolk, Virginia as a port of refuge, and remains there while discussions continue between Owners, Shippers, Charterers, and receivers concerning the need to discharge the coal.
Advised on a matter concerned a serious fire which broke out on 26 May 2024 on board the containership “NORTHERN JUVENILE”.
Were instructed by Intrada Ships Management which were the Defendants in a criminal prosecution by the Maritime Coastguard Agency. The charge related to the management of a British-flagged vessel which was involved in a fatal collision off the Danish Coast.
