Ashurst’s practice supports a wide range of prominent clients with both domestic and international matters, covering M&A, product launches, and financing arrangements. Nick Elverston, who co-leads the team, specialises in advising on service rollouts, joint ventures, network sharing agreements, and transactional work, while also contributing to financing and dispute matters within the sector. Amanda Ludlow, the team’s other co-head, focuses on data regulation, with particular expertise in data protection, privacy issues, and managing data breach notifications across multiple jurisdictions. Fiona Ghosh joined as a partner from EY Law in 2024, adding further strength to the practice.

Work highlights

Advising Meta in the context of all its most strategic telecoms infrastructure projects in EMEA. We have most recently been appointed to advise on the rollout of the Waterworth cable system, and related terrestrial telecoms infrastructure, and continue to advise Meta on the rollout of the |2Africa| cable system, in both cases using a cross-border team of lawyers.
Representing Telefonica UK in its defence of a c. £3 billion class action before the Competition Appeal Tribunal in relation to abuse of dominance/collective dominance allegations concerning the pricing of combined handset and airtime contracts to consumers.
Advising Boldyn Networks in a dispute resolution matter. We provide strategic dispute resolution advice in relation to its concession agreement with TfL.
