Greenberg Traurig LLP, the Miami-based firm, has close geographical and cultural links to Latin America. Centred in Miami, the firm’s Latin America team has made great strides in recent years, building on its long trajectory of working on investments and transactions into the region. It now also works with a range of Latin American businesses and investors in connection with their interests and investments in the US. The Miami office has worked on a series of headline cross-border M&A transactions, including advising El Salvador-based retail operator, Dollarcity, on the sale of a 10% equity interest to Canadian value retailer, Dollarama. It also advised Viva Air on its attempt to integrate with Avianca Airlines. Antonio Peña is co-chair of the Latin America practice and an experienced practitioner in M&A and private equity transactions in the region. Yosbel Ibarra is co-managing shareholder of the Miami office, the former head of the Latin America team, and has an outstanding record in cross-border M&A deals. Arnaldo Rego and Henry Roque are also key figures in cross-border M&A, while the vastly experienced Emilio Alvarez-Farré is a prominent figure in corporate transactions and financings. Thomas Martin is noted for capital markets transactions and financings, with Joseph Mamounas recognised for Latin-America related litigation and arbitration; Mamounas is co-chair of the international arbitration group.
