Career

Fred Ojiambo is the Senior Partner at Kaplan & Stratton. He qualified as a Kenyan advocate and joined Kaplan & Stratton in 1974. He joined the partnership in 1981 and became senior partner in 1994. His main area of practice is civil litigation in the following areas: banking, insurance, medical negligence and malpractice issues, land disputes, commercial transactions, international trade, construction and environmental law, judicial review, public international law claims, employment, debt collection, criminal law, arbitration and mediation. Fred mainly handles matters before the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the Employment and Labour Relations Court and other specialist tribunals. He has also participated in various judicial and public inquiries.

Fred has been instructed on several landmark and precedent setting cases. By way of example he represented the Communication Authority of Kenya in the Supreme Court in relation to a dispute regarding the roll out of the digital migration framework in Kenya. The matter had enormous implications on both civilian and non-civilian communication traffic in Kenya.

Fred is a previous chair of the Law Society of Kenya, he is a Senior Counsel and chairs the committee on senior counsel. He is a chair of Stanbic Bank, Stanbic Holdings Group Limited, Biblica (formerly International Bible Society), and the national task force on reforms in the legal sector.
