Kochhar & Co.‘s IP practice adopts a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating with the firm’s corporate, dispute resolution, and tech practices to represent both national and global clients in a wide scope of IP issues. The practice is led by an experienced trio: registered patent attorney Tarvinder Singh, who focuses on patent drafting, prosecution, and patent portfolio analysis; the Chennai-based Savitha Kesav Jagadeesan, who has deep expertise in trademark and copyright law; and Lynn Lazaro, who has a varied practice and divides her time between Canada and India. Anshuman Sharma is a key member of the team and focuses on IP portfolio management and company name disputes. The team was further enhanced with the arrivals of Gaurav Choubey in April 2025, who has merged his independent IPR practice with the firm, and Amit Kumar Panigrahi in May 2025.

Tarvinder is a Senior Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Rights (IP) practice. He is a registered Patent Attorney with the Indian Patent Office. Tarvinder has over 30 years of professional experience and has represented several global corporations covering a wide spectrum of Intellectual Property issues.
His practice areas include patent drafting & prosecution, analysis of patent portfolios, patent infringement & freedom to operate opinions, drafting & negotiating complex licensing arrangements in relation to all aspects of Intellectual Property. He is one of the few Patent Attorneys in India who has conducted Live Patent Harvesting & Ideation sessions with R & D units of clients. In addition, Tarvinder’s practice focuses on trade mark prosecution and litigation in relation to infringement & passing off actions, including opinions on issues such as trade mark searches, counterfeiting & domain names, copyright protection and unfair competition. Tarvinder has also advised clients on issues concerning Brand adoption and Brand monetization involving matters such as Assignments, Licensing, Co-branding, Franchising, IP takeovers and other related matters.
He regularly advises clients on formulating a focused IP filing and protection strategy. He also renders advice on complex issues such as trade secrets, data protection, employee intellectual property & confidentiality and media law. Tarvinder has successfully adopted conciliation and mediation for resolving IP disputes for clients.
In addition to private practice, Tarvinder has extensive experience of the corporate world having worked as in-house legal counsel with some of the leading Indian corporations having business operations in the field of pharmaceuticals, healthcare, automobiles and telecom, where he handled and managed substantial Intellectual Property assets spread in several jurisdictions including India. He has also worked with a reputed, specialised Intellectual Property law firm, as a Patent Attorney where he wrote and prosecuted several patent applications for large global corporations.
