Position

Through 25 years as a construction lawyer, Christian Johansen has gained substantial experience, which includes the drafting of a variety of international commercial contracts. Christian is often involved in legal work relating to domestic and international commercial contracts in the areas of energy and offshore, construction and infrastructure, technology, distribution and agency, insurance and reinsurance as well as other long-term contracts, maritime contracts and international sales contracts.

Christian Johansen is specialised in construction and contract law, i.e. the formation of contracts, subcontracts, bonds and guarantees in construction contracts, drafting/interpretation of contracts, performance, scope, termination and breach of contract, including the principles for calculating and determining damages in the construction industry.

Christian Johansen serves as lawyer in disputes involving domestic and international construction law, in both litigation and arbitration.

Christian Johansen has acted in disputes involving construction law under the rules of the Danish Building and Construction Board (VBA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Danish Institute of Arbitration (DIA). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London (FCIArb).

Christian Johansen also undertakes scholarly research in construction law. He has an academic profile with a Ph.D. in construction law from the University of Copenhagen (1998). For the last 20 years, he has been one of the leading scholars in Denmark within construction law. He often gives lectures and seminars on issues relating to construction law.
