Arias' IP team handles a comprehensive range of filings, renewals, acquisitions, oppositions and cancellations for high-profile international clients across the pharmaceutical, entertainment, consumer goods and retail sectors, among others, with strong offerings in the patent, trade mark and copyright arenas. The team is well equipped to advise on the management and protection of IP assets throughout the region, drawing on the support of the firm’s other offices in Central America, as well as assisting with related unfair competition, data protection and consumer law issues. Director Cynthia Wo Ching, who joined the firm from independent practice in June 2024 to take over leadership of the department, is skilled in both contentious and non-contentious trade mark, patent and copyright matters, while associate María Laura Torres oversees the patent law side of the practice.
