Providing a ‘commercial and practical approach to solving challenges’, Baker McKenzie S.A.S.’s energy and natural resources team leverages its global platform to advise an exhaustive roster of multinational power, mining, and oil-and-gas companies on their Colombian operations. Striking a balance between regulatory and transactional work, the group’s recent experience spans a broad scope of permitting, project finance, project development and transactional matters, among others. Department head Alejandro Mesa is highly regarded for his ’in-depth knowledge of local and international energy legislation’; he provides ongoing advice to Schlumberger Surenco on day-to-day legal and regulatory matters. Experienced senior associate Camila Jiménez serves as director of the environmental law area and her work routinely intersects energy and environmental law; she notably supports Mesa on the Schlumberger file. The team also includes newly promoted (July 2025) senior associate Laura Torres Restrepo, whose practice encompasses energy, hydrocarbons, climate change and public law. Senior associate Andres Ramon Rodriguez-Gomez left to go freelance in October 2024.
