
Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos' ‘real estate team has high levels of knowledge and experience that allow them to provide comprehensive advice’. The full-service practice is particularly experienced in advising on greenfield construction projects throughout the development cycle. Coverage for the eight-member team ranges from land acquisitions and municipal permits, to construction agreements and operational launches; and its track record includes successfully developing industrial plants, shopping malls, data centres, office buildings, distribution centres and container terminals. It also advises on real estate M&A deals and urban development regulations; while the department’s expertise extends to construction-related agreements, negotiations, project completions and conflict resolution, as well as securing permits, lease agreement drafting and managing relationships with contractors and Chile’s authorities. Recent highlights include advising Chilean supermarket conglomerate SMU on a strategic investment involving the acquisition of Supermercados Montserrat-owned properties. Leading the team, Juan Pablo Matus' wide-ranging workload encompasses shopping centre, industrial, office and residential project development, along with advising overseas investment funds on the acquisition and sale of real estate assets. Matus additionally assists major retail companies with long-term lease agreements for stores and shopping centres.
