With ‘a deep understanding and extensive experience in Chilean environmental legislation’ Lawgic Abogados is a natural resources and environmental boutique that routinely advises companies from the mining, energy, industry, aquaculture, agri-business, desalination, tourism and real estate industries. Highly specialised in environmental, water, mining and energy law (particularly the electricity segment), the broad practice also handles project-related administrative and judicial environmental disputes; clients highlight the ‘personalised attention, extensive experience and knowledge of the field’. The practice is led by founding partner Felipe Meneses, an expert in environmental, indigenous and regulatory law. At associate level, specialist environmental senior Ximena Jirón leads the second line, which also comprises experienced intermediate José Miguel Abarca (an April 2024 arrival from Eelaw), and junior Josefina Barriga Martínez who focuses on environmental law and project development.

Work highlights
Advised Statkraft in two judicial proceedings before the Environmental Court of Santiago initiated by local communities that sought the court declare several modifications that the company made to three projects located in the 6th region null and void; both procedures were settled by means of an agreement between the company and the communities in September 2024; this is the first termination-agreement for this type of judicial procedure in Chile
Acting for biogas plant construction and operation company, Genera 4, in two administrative disputes initiated by different community organisations that seek to have the company’s environmental licenses declared null and void: the Biocircular Los Ciruelos project located in Los Lagos Region; and the Biocircular Los Laureles project located in El Maule Region; we are also representing the company before the Environmental Court of Valdivia in an additional licensing case.
Advising nitrate and iodine mining companies COSAYACH and SIMCO regarding the ‘Ampliación Negreiros’ project (successfully obtaining an environmental license that was initially turned down), and the ‘Producción de Sales Maricunga’ project (as regards the Indigenous Consultation Process, begun in 2022 and -as a result of a Supreme Court´s ruling on the case- now entering its final phase), respectively.
