Marcelo Frazão serves as Managing Partner of COSRO, where he leads our firm’s transactional practice and is highly regarded for his expertise in complex, high-value M&A transactions, joint ventures, and commercial contracts involving energy assets. His work spans the entire energy value chain, encompassing traditional oil and gas, renewables, biofuels, and energy transition projects. Marcelo primarily counsels international clients with interests or operations in Brazil, including project developers, offtakers, construction and shipping companies, global suppliers, and financial institutions. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in transactions exceeding USD 8 billion in asset value.

Marcelo is also distinguished for his highly regarded experience in dispute resolution, particularly in high-stakes arbitration. He has represented clients in disputes totaling more than USD 1.7 billion in the Brazilian market over the past five years, with a focus on energy and construction arbitrations.

His work also includes innovative energy production and decarbonization initiatives, including advanced biofuels (such as renewable diesel, SAF, and biomethane), low-emission hydrogen and ammonia, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and carbon market mechanisms. He works closely with clients to develop and implement strategies for reducing carbon emissions, always with an emphasis on ensuring energy security and accessibility.
