Effective September 30, OSHA launched its long awaited Recordkeeping National Emphasis Program. Citing recent studies with regard to under-recording by employers on OSHA 300 Logs, the NEP is designed to ascertain whether and to what extent employers are under-reporting injuries in the work-place.

The NEP will focus on selected industries with high injury and illness rates. Specifically, establishments with 40 or more employees in the following industries that have reported a Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) rate from 0.0 to 4.2 in 2007 will be targeted. These establishments include:

  • Animal (except poultry) slaughtering
  • Scheduled passenger air transportation
  • Steel foundries (except investment)
