As the first item on the agenda in the Parliamentary wash-up process to enable the enactment of outstanding key legislation before the election, the Bribery Bill will today proceed through the Report and Third Reading stages in the Commons. This will give MPs an opportunity to consider further amendments to the Bill following its examination in Committee and will be followed immediately by debate on the Bill's Third Reading. At the end of the debate, the Commons will vote on whether to approve the Bill so that it may become law.

As the outstanding legislation to be dealt with as part of the wash-up will have been agreed with the opposition parties in advance, it is highly likely that the Bribery Bill will therefore make it onto the statute books before the parliamentary session ends on Monday, 12 April 2010.
