The crime of insult is regulated in Articles 125 through 131 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, and these articles are found under the heading “Crimes Against Honor” in the Code. Since there is no provision in our laws that classifies insult as “freedom of expression” and thereby removes its criminal status, the crime of insult is statistically one of the most frequently investigated offenses.
