On 10 March 2017 the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova passed Act No. 23/2017 partly transposing a number of EU instruments and thus simplifying immigration rules.

Moldova is extending a warm welcome to immigrants, though entry generally requires a visa. Certain nationals, especially Europeans, enjoy exceptions and may enter without a visa under specific conditions.

On 16 July 2010 the Moldovan Parliament passed the Act No. 200/2010 on the regime of foreigners residing/staying in Moldova (Act No. 200). Act No. 200 shall enter into force as of 24 December 2010 and implements totally new rules and procedures regulating the entrance, staying and exit of foreigners in Moldova.

On 26 December 2012, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova passed Act No. 303/2012 on amending and supplementing of certain legal acts.
