In August 2023, the Jordanian government introduced revenue based notification thresholds that apply alongside the existing market share thresholds.

In July 2022, the Jordanian government announced new amendments to the Jordanian Competition Law, Law 33/2004 (Competition Law).

The Competition Law identified the relevant competition bodies in Jordan and tackled several issues related to competition. The main segments of the law cover anticompetitive collusions, abuse of dominant position, regulating mergers and acquisitions, and ensuring fairness of economic transactions.

Jordan has enacted sweeping amendments to its Competition Law that fundamentally reshape the country's merger control landscape. The reforms introduce a formal two-phase review process, eliminate market share thresholds in favor of turnover-based criteria, and grant the Competition Directorate explicit authority to impose remedies and significantly increased sanctions.
