According to figures released by the Federation of European Stock Exchanges, the value of equity trading during the first six months of 1995 in Amsterdam was just over Ecu 52 billion which was a 15.3% increase on the comparable period in 1994.

Only the much smaller bourses such as Vienna, with a turnover of Ecu 5.3 billion, and Copenhagen with a turnover of Ecu 2.7 billion reported larger increases in business with rises in volume of 24% and 22% respectively.

Compared with the major European equity exchanges, Amsterdam did exceptionally well. London, which had a turnover of Ecu 484 billion saw an 8% drop in business.
