Recent developments in both law and regulation in Jersey have demonstrated the engagement by all parts of the sector, government, regulator and industry, in innovation and development. Following the 2013 amendment of the Limited Liability Partnerships (Jersey) Law 1997, the limited liability partnership (LLP) structure has become a popular vehicle for the conduct of fund management activities and other professional services with nearly 60 such entities being established. Whilst many are providing services that are exempt from registration, the JFSC's rapid engagement with industry to establish a regulatory policy for these popular vehicles has resulted in a number of regulated structures being established. Appleby advised on the first of these and has gone on to assist on the registration of a number of others.
