On March 30, 2020, the Government of Manitoba issued a new public health order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic ("Order"). Pursuant to the Order, all businesses, other than those listed in the Order must close. Premier Brian Pallister announced that the Order is meant to ensure that critical services are available while taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

What is the effective date of the Order?

The Order takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on April 1, 2020 and will end at 12:01 a.m. on April 14, 2020. Please note that the Government of Manitoba may make a further order extending the closure of certain businesses.

What is considered a Critical Service?

The Government of Manitoba has deemed 74 categories of businesses to be critical services and these businesses are permitted to continue operations. A business is defined as a trade, industry, service, profession or occupation, and includes businesses operated on a commercial or not-for-profit basis.
