Having a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index, AstraZeneca is a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical company. It has a strong presence in Sweden, with around 6,600 employees divided between the research centre in Gothenburg and production site in Södertälje, near Stockholm. Its legal team in Sweden is trusted by the business to handle a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, providing expert legal advice. Thanks in no small part to the legal team’s contribution, Södertälje is currently investing around $299m in a new high-tech facility for the manufacturing of biological medicines. By locating the new manufacturing plant, AstraZeneca will combine its expertise in biologics with the well-established culture of operational excellence that exists within the Sweden operations unit.
