Focus on… Our Legal Team 

BPI Legal serves as the main legal resource for the BPI Group of Companies. It is composed of highly trained legal and accounting professionals with extensive experience in banking, corporate law, taxation and litigation.

The Corporate Legal Affairs Division (CLAD) comprises the Documentation, Legal Risk and Advisory, Tax Compliance, Tax Advisory and Tax Risk Management Departments. The Documentation and Legal Advisory Departments provide strategic legal guidance and comprehensive transaction and documentation support for the acquisitions, bond issuances, projects, products, services, branches and digital channels of the BPI Group of Companies. The legal tax team, comprised of the Tax Compliance, Tax Advisory and Tax Risk Management Departments, guide the proper interpretation and application of tax laws and regulations, oversees tax compliance and mitigates or manages tax risks of the BPI Group of Companies.

The Office of the Corporate Secretary handles the functions and duties of the Corporate Secretary of BPI and its subsidiaries.

The Dispute Resolution Division (DRD) handles litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings filed by or against BPI or any subsidiaries before a court or quasi-judicial body. DRD also provides legal guidance for labour-related and Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) compliance matters and has a dedicated anti-cybercrime team that assists in investigating and prosecuting cyber fraudsters who victimise bank clients.

The Legal Administration Department is a shared service of the Corporate Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution Divisions. It includes paralegals and legal staff who, among others, handle legal processes and the enforcement of writs of possession, assist in the registration and monitoring of trademarks and copyrights of the BPI Group of Companies, and serve as administrative staff for the various departments of CLAD and DRD.
