Could you tell us a bit about your significant successes in your role?

I have 27 years of legal experience in different companies, with specialised studies in corporate law. My scope consists of watching over the company’s interests and ensuring that the business complies with current regulations. I closely collaborate with the legal director in developing the legal team’s activities and responsibilities, providing advice and assistance in legal matters to different areas of the business.

I address corporate and contractual issues, legal audits, internal consultations, and litigation strategies. Additionally, I have participated in developing anti-money laundering and anti-corruption practices. I am very cautious of legal requirements established by the authorities and ensure that the company follows regulations concerning all the company products.

I have been representing the company judicially and extrajudicially, providing legal advice to various lawsuits and helping external counsel process the resolutions.

Lastly, I have been at the forefront of developing policies and automating legal management processes. I have conducted customs transactions and operations. I have been negotiating with the Union concerning collective agreements and related activities.

In your opinion, what are the qualities and skills needed to form a strong legal team?

The qualities and skills needed to form a solid legal team continually stimulate interaction and cooperation to control conflicts and solve problems. It is crucial to evaluate differences and support your peers.

A strong legal team participates in the decision-making process, communicates ideas, encourages commitment, and prepares an implementation plan.

It is essential to develop a training plan to build confidence in the team and teamwork and create a work structure, delegate, and give decision-making power.

Personal and group achievements should always be highlighted.

Finally, a strong legal team encourages flexibility and promotes respect for differences.

What is the biggest risk to your industry, and how are you contributing to prepare your organisation for this?

I prepare my organisation to deal with risk by analysing and implementing stages in risk management such as financial losses, people, internal systems, technology and institutional development. I work in implementing sustainable digital tools, anti-money laundering laws, anti-corruption and protection of personal data.

It is crucial to forge a vision of change and strategic initiative to maintain acceleration and institutionalise change.
