Established in 2013 as one of the arms tasked with implementing the country’s development strategy, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority is currently tasked with promoting direct investment by both local and foreign investors and streamlining the local investment environment to improve Kuwait’s position in leading international indices. At present, the Authority also focuses on promoting investments into Kuwait, raising awareness regarding the importance of direct investment and promoting the country’s investment environment to foreign businesses. As possessing best in class legal knowledge is absolutely essential to the organisation, in order to achieve each of its strategic objectives it has put significant effort into establishing a highly capable legal team since its inception. Today the Authority boasts a coherent and well-organised legal department which is said to command strong legal expertise in a variety of areas, such as, for example, foreign direct investments, corporate governance, contract management, tenders and international trade among others. One of the team’s most senior staff- Amr Wageeh- receives significant praise from both colleagues and clients, who regard him as a strong professional capable of taking control of big projects and executing them to the fullest. Legal specialist Yousef Alobaidan is another lawyer who received wide acclaim from various sources in this year’s research with corporate law, commercial and civil litigation mentioned as significant areas of strength.
