France-headquartered Crédit Agricole maintains a significant corporate and investment bank operation in Italy, where it has operated successfully for many years. Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) is an internationally-recognised outfit that employs highly-skilled individuals throughout its hierarchy, and its legal team is no exception to this. The team is led by Simone Davini, head of legal and corporate affairs, who has been with the company since 2010. Under Davini’s stewardship, the team has flourished and transformed into a valued business partner while simultaneously ensuring internal legal processes are improved constantly. Apart from Davini, senior legal counsel Angela Dominici and Giorgio Nobile came in for particular praise for their support of the bank’s activities over an extended period. Davini elaborates on how busy the team has been over the past year: ‘We’ve been involved in several financing, securitisation, debt capital market, trade finance, M&A and derivative transactions, essentially, we support all the transactions carried out by Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank with its Italian clients’. ‘To name one’, he continues, ‘we were involved in a securitisation deal with Granarolo’, an Italian food group based in Bologna. Davini goes into the team culture and paints an individual-based approach: ‘We prize team-work and maieutic leadership, and developed this by picking the right personalities when we had the chance to recruit newcomers. By establishing a style of work and processes which foster the communication, professional and intellectual cross-fertilisation and a common sense of purposes among the members of the team we have managed to achieve excellent results’.
