The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is India’s central banking institution which controls the monetary policy of the Indian rupee. Leading the team, legal adviser, PSN Prasad, joined the bank in 1998 and was appointed as legal adviser in the rank of chief general manager in 2015. Prasad boasts over 30 years of in-house experience and is well known across the industry for his exceptional expertise and his ability to manage his team well in times of considerable challenges. Composed of 40 legal officers, the legal team has earned the title of being a true asset to the company, maintaining this reputation by delivering regular high standard training to the business. Explaining his approach to managing his team and working with RBI’s CEO, Prasad says ‘we work together to strengthen our efforts to achieve organisational goals and objectives; we work with mutual respect and maintain cordiality in our relationships’. The spectrum of work taken on by the bank’s legal team covers interpretations of laws, drafting of pleadings, liaison with advocates, appearing before quasi-judicial authorities, conducting cases, consumer forums with other authorities.
