Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a multinational hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, and the company’s legal team has been instrumental in leading the company through a number of business initiatives, including new land acquisitions, joint ventures, M&A’s, restructurings and hotel management projects and general commercial matters, employment, litigations and contract negotiations. The team, led by director of legal China Albert Chak, has oversight of all legal matters pertaining to the company’s operations, as well as responsibility for compliance matters related to the company’s Hong Kong listing, and PRC investments of the Kerry Group, the parent company of Shangri-La. Shangri-La manages over 102 hotels and resorts through its parent company, and is expanding rapidly with projects in development in mainland China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. The team will be at the heart of this expansion, facilitating contracts, regulation and permits among other matters and greatly contributing to the company’s success.
