Stephanie Cheung, executive vice president and chief legal officer at Melco since 2008, has led a growing world class legal team that has seen a number of changes over the last decade. Melco has been expanding its casino and entertainment resort portfolio in Macau, Manila, and Japan, and has ambitions to continue this development across the whole region. The legal team has facilitated this growth through its stellar management of the company’s legal affairs including its lettings, supply contracts and partnerships, as well as matters dealing with the company’s listing changes and structural changes in the last 10 years. All this encompasses the firm’s change from dual listing on the Hong Kong Exchange to its single listing under parent company Melco International Development Limited, this time on the Nasdaq exchange. The legal team’s involvement in the growth of the company is exemplified by the smooth and steady growth the company has experienced in new markets including its launch of a new hotel in its City of Dreams complex in Macau called Morpheus, and a new e-sports stadium, the first of its kind, in Macau.
