Aegean Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Greece and the largest Greek airline by total number of passengers carried, by number of destinations served and by fleet size. Aegean Airlines acquired Olympic Air in 2013, and both carriers continue to operate under separate brands. The company’s legal team is responsible for a wide range of legal affairs, including handling day to day legal issues and M&As of other airlines, such as the Olympic Air acquisition. The legal team at Aegean Airlines has also played a major role in the negotiation of the purchase agreement with Airbus in June 2018 for the order of up to 42 new generation aircraft of the A320neo family. The investment is valued at US$5bn at list prices, and it was the largest private investment in Greece as of 2018. The new aircraft facilitate the offer of new services to passengers, as well as increased range capabilities for expansion to new destinations and markets.
