About

Headquartered in Warsaw, with branches in Russia, Pakistan, Belarus and Ukraine and equity interests in 30 subsidiaries, the state-controlled Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) holds a dominant position in the local and multinational energy markets. As a result, the company’s expansive activities generate immense amounts of work for its highly capable legal team. Over the last few years alone, the team has been instrumental in its involvement in a multitude of legal cases, including filing of a lawsuit against the European Commission regarding the Opal gas pipeline, PGNiG’s PLN1.4bn agreement to supply gas to ArcelorMittal, its PLN7bn agreement to supply gas to PKN Orlen, a further agreement to supply gas to Grupa Azoty for PLN3.3.bn, as well as an agreement to supply natural gas to PGE for PLN2bn. It has also been involved in PGNiG’s investment in coal group PGG, contributed to LNG gas trading with the US via its newly operating London office, and has assisted exploration in Norway, by supporting acquisitions of various assets there.
