Consejo Nacional de Supervisión del Sistema Financiero (CONASSIF) is Costa Rica’s national council of financial system supervision and its legal department has a key role in the overall strategy and day-to-day function of the council, in addition to the strictly legal aspects of protecting and abetting its business goals. The team is directly involved in the development and roll out of policy changes made by CONASSIF in the recent past, perhaps most notably including new regulation repealing some of the existing corporate governance rules, and new rules on simplified bank accounts to expand financial inclusion to citizens who do not have access to financial services.
