Founded in 1991, Banco de la Producción (Banpro) is one of the premier financial institutions in Nicaragua, and its legal team lives up to the same reputation. The legal function is led by Julio Cesar Reyes Sanchez, a highly respected individual in the bank who is regarded as a senior executive in addition to having responsibility for legal activities. As such, legal opinion is given a high priority in terms of strategic decision-making within the bank. The team has made a tangible impact with its assistance in the development of technical tools that minimise risk for the company’s personal banking and loans operations, as well as with its provision of effective legal recuperation service to minimise the risk of unrecovered losses. At the same time, the team’s work to revise key internal processes has had a positive impact on customer satisfaction for the bank’s clientele. The team has also had a highly influential role with its transactional work over the last two years, having impressed with its work to structure syndicated loans to finance renewable energy projects in cane sugar mills and African Palm projects, as well as with its work on contracts which involve the banks holding company and contracts by which the bank has obtained loans from foreign financial institutions.
