A logistics powerhouse, Toll Group employs around 40,000 people and posted $8.8bn AUD in revenue for 2014, the final annual report published prior to the group’s acquisition by Japan Post Holdings. The company has a long and proud history, originally being established in the 19th century, and in the intervening years it has developed a comprehensive logistics network using road, rail, air and sea transport. Adam Martin is group general counsel of the company, and as such has overall responsibility for legal matters at Toll Group including the organisation of the legal department. Having spent over 16 at Toll, Martin knows the business inside out and is ideally placed to support the entire supply chain for the company’s services. The company is investing in new facilities in order to get back on track with expanding their operations, supported ably by the company’s legal team. As one recent example, in August 2017 Toll Group recently announced council approval for a new high tech freight hub to be constructed in Tasmania, which was worked on ably by the legal team.
