Supporting one of the world’s top 20 insurers with operations in 37 countries and a workforce of over 15,000 employees, QBE’s global commercial, operations and technology legal team has lawyers based in Australia, USA, London, Hong Kong, Philippines and Colombia. It is credited for supporting all technology and commercial legal aspects of ground breaking AI, insuretech, robotics, global transformation and global sourcing initiatives. The team is led by the highly regarded technology and outsourcing specialist lawyer Johanna O’Rourke, who, in her role as head of commercial, operations and technology legal, is a member of QBE’s global leadership team and leads all global legal operations initiatives. In the last year alone, O’Rourke and her colleagues have led a request proposal process (RFP) relating to the consolidation of QBE’s regional legal panels and implemented a global external legal panel. The panel has since secured globally discounted rates, value adds and technology initiatives, implemented global legal training, developed and implemented globally consistent robust precedents and led the legal support for the rollout of new global contracts management system.
