Principally located in Australia’s four key cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth), Mirvac Group is a leading Australian property group that owns and manages assets across the office, retail and industrial sectors, with over $15bn AUD of assets currently under management. Since January 2017, Glen O’Neill has been responsible for the delivery of the legal and business operations functions for the Mirvac Construction business under his position of legal and business operations manager. Another important member of the team is Hugh O’Brien, who having been at the company since 2009, is one of the most experienced lawyers within Mirvac’s legal department. In delivering legal services to the organisation, O’Brien worked closely with the Group’s commercial and residential development teams as well as the capital transaction team to ensure the business operates as smoothly as possible. Before a major restructure to its business in 2015, Mirvac hired other top lawyers in 2014 to the legal team such as Deanna Chan, Ana Simurina and Stuart Symons who all serve as senior legal counsels. Notable recent activities the team has been involved in include the issue of $200m AUD of seven year Medium Term Notes (“MTN”) under its Medium Term Note Program, entering into an agreement for lease with leading professional services firm, Deloitte, to pre-lease office space in its new Melbourne development. This is set to become one of Melbourne’s leading smart office towers, and the team was also behind the agreement with PAYCE Consolidated to acquire a 50% interest in a 25,000m2 mixed-use development site just outside of Sydney.
