Goodman is an integrated commercial and industrial property group that owns, develops and manages real estate space for business and commerce. The company has a substantial property offering that is focused in the main distribution centres in Auckland and Christchurch and encompasses estate and stand-alone properties that provide almost 1,000,000 m2 of rentable area accommodating around 240 customers. With approximately 70% of Goodman’s assets having been developed in the last ten years, a number of its assets have won awards for architectural merit, environmental sustainability and investment performance. The legal function of the company in New Zealand is headed by Anton Shead, a lawyer with more than 20 years of legal experience. Having previously worked at law firms Bell Gully, Herbert Smith and Carey Olsen, Shead is responsible for the provision of legal and compliance support to Goodman across its existing portfolio projects and transactions. In 2017, for example, Shead supported the deal signed by the joint venture between Goodman Property Trust and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC to buy a recently completed office building Bayleys House in central Auckland, for $62m NZD.
