As the lead lawyer of a big name within the Australian mining industry, Peter Huston – in his role of chief general counsel and director of corporate services – must ensure that great considerations to the potential fluctuations and volatility that comes with operating within the raw materials market. Huston first joined Fortescue Metals Group as chief general counsel in January 2005, subsequently joining the executive team in January 2009 as director of the company’s corporate services. Prior to joining Fortescue, Huston spent 12 years as a partner of the law firm now known as Norton Rose and a decade using his expertise on issues related to private equity and M&A. Huston holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Commerce and Jurisprudence and a Master of Laws degree.
