About

Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) was founded in 2007 with a capital equity base of US$1bn to facilitate private sector led infrastructure investment in Africa. With US$4.2bn in capital, the corporation has been achieving this aim through diligent investing across Africa enabling growth through economic and public health crisis, conflict and environmental degradation. The AFC is committed to improving infrastructure investment across Africa and driving sustainable growth and has invested over US$4bn in projects across 28 countries on the continent. The in-house legal team is led by Nana Eshun, director and acting general counsel, and consists of highly talented financial lawyers who are skilled and passionate at aiding the development of the African economy. The team is responsible for legal matters pertaining to financial arrangements as well as corporate governance, employment and infrastructure financing across Africa. In the last year, AFC has signed a facility agreement with China Export Import Bank and Africa Finance Corporation, and announced the completion of the Bel Air Mine in Guinea. This bauxite mine is one of the largest investments in the country since the Ebola crisis.
