Career
Sofía O'Ryan, founding partner at O'SP Legal (formerly Salgado & O'Ryan), focuses her practice on competition and consumer law, advising clients on merger control, unilateral conduct, and cartel investigations before the National Economic Prosecutor's Office (FNE), as well as proceedings before the Competition Tribunal (TDLC) and the National Consumer Service (SERNAC). Her practice also extends to competition and consumer compliance, an area where her regulatory background gives her a particular edge.
Her client base spans the technology, industrial, and life sciences sectors, where she is known for combining rigorous legal analysis with the strategic insight of a former regulator — an ability to anticipate how the FNE and other authorities are likely to view a given matter before it becomes a formal proceeding.
Sofía's regulatory perspective is grounded in more than seven years at the FNE, where she rose to become Coordinator of the Mergers and Unilateral Conduct Divisions, helping shape the agency's enforcement criteria during a formative period for Chilean competition policy. She went on to lead the antitrust practice at DLA Piper Chile before founding O'SP Legal.
