Nigel has been a commercial disputes lawyer for over 25 years, in the City for the first 10 years of his career, before moving to the North East in 1998. He has extensive experience of litigating in High Court Queen’s Bench, Chancery and Administrative Divisions and County Courts throughout England and Wales.

Reported cases in which Nigel has been involved include:
The series of Ringtower v Schwarcz cases – authorities upon several aspects of company takeover, seller warranties and shareholder/director powers. Much of the civil litigation arising out of attempts to recover proceeds from the Brink’s Mat bullion robbery. Viskase Ltd v Paul Kiefel GmbH [2000] – majority Court of Appeal authority upon the place of performance of a contract of sale under the Brussels Convention. Brinkmann v Williams [2004] – authority upon where the balance of convenience lies in determining interlocutory injunctive relied in minority shareholder prejudice proceedings.
