Lindsay Macdonald, Partner, is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Medical Negligence Law, having worked exclusively in this practice area since joining Drummond Miller LLP in September 2019.

Prior to this, Lindsay was a solicitor at a well renowned global law firm in which she spent time overseas working in the United Arab Emirates.  She holds a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Bachelor of Laws with Honours law degree, all from the University of Edinburgh.

Lindsay accepts instructions solely on behalf of Pursuers in respect of all aspects of medical negligence including surgical errors, missed diagnoses and birth damage.  Lindsay has a reputation for delivering results in complex, disputed cases and as such is frequently contacted by peers in other firms seeking court agency work in medical negligence cases which require to be litigated.

Although her caseload is varied, a significant proportion of Lindsay’s caseload is comprised of claims relating to delayed diagnosis of cancer, birth damage and multi-pursuer fatal claims brought by families who have lost a relative due to alleged medical negligence.  Lindsay has successfully settled a large number of such claims across her career, often securing high six figure sums but more importantly securing a sense of closure for her clients.

Lindsay understands that alleged failures in care experienced in a medical setting can result in a lack of confidence in professionals; as such Lindsay strives to build trust with her own clients through clear, direct communication from the outset.  She ensures that not only are clients are informed as to progress but their expectations are appropriately managed; Lindsay is able to lean on her ever expanding knowledge of this area of law and experience of litigating complex claims to advise on risk and prospects of success while understanding each individual client’s motivations for pursuing a claim.
