Position

Stephen Fielding is an experienced inheritance / probate mediator. He has mediated over 175 disputes, the vast majority of them resulting in a settlement. These cases include disputes involving inheritance, family provision, incapacity and undue influence claims. Most have had a high degree of emotion; many have been financially complex.

Stephen is an expert in keeping lines of communication open, is not afraid of emotion and is financially literate; skills that ensure that settlements are reached

The range banking and financial services disputes which Stephen has mediated includes:

  • High-end commercial lending disputes,
  • Mortgage related cases,
  • Investment management disputes,
  • FX trading disputes,
  • Insurance and pension cases.

He has mediated a number of CCA disputes and is the author of Consumer Credit Agreements – a working handbook to Truth in Lending.

He has a background as a banking and financial services lawyer, advising banks and building societies. From 1986 he was a senior executive in banking organisations – heading up Midland Bank’s mortgage operation in the late 1980’s; Head of Financial Services at private bankers Coutts & Co, a partner and divisional head responsible for high end commercial and personal borrowing.
