Position

Having completed pupillage and accepted tenancy in April 2025, Rukan Hazar accepts instructions in the following areas:

  • Family: Private Children Law, Public Children Law, Family Law Act applications, and Matrimonial Finance;
  • Civil: Breach of Contract, Commercial Disputes, Property Law (including possession hearings), Personal Injury, Claims under Consumer Credit Act 1974, Employment Law, Credit Hire, Debt Recovery, Personal and Corporate Insolvency (including bankruptcy petitions, winding-up petitions, applications to set-aside statutory demands), CCMCs, Interlocutory Applications, and Infant Settlement Hearings;
  • Crime: Prosecutes (Grade 1) and defends in the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court.

Before joining Chambers, Rukan worked as a paralegal in the legal department of the National Crime Agency where she assisted on cases involving recovery of proceeds of crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. She also appeared before District Judges as a county court advocate across London and the Southeastern Circuit in possession matters. Prior to this, Rukan worked as a legal assistant to the Head of Chambers at a London set, gaining experience in health and safety, environmental, and regulatory matters.

During her Bar studies, she provided pro bono advice and representation in social security appeals before the First Tier Tribunal as well as private children law at East London Family Court.
