Matt Ashman

Matt joined Gatehouse Chambers in June 2026 and oversees the Construction, Costs, Insurance and Professional Liability teams. He brings over 13 years’ experience in practice management.He is responsible for the management and development of members’ practices, as well as promoting chambers’ specialist practice areas. Matt works closely with the Practice Director and Senior Management Team to support the delivery of chambers’ wider strategic objectives.

Nadia Carby

Nadia Carby joined Gatehouse Chambers in March 2021. Her main duties include diary management, listing hearings, and assisting the Senior Practice Managers and Practice Director in the development of the individual practices of members within the Commercial, Insolvency, Costs, and Employment teams. Nadia plays a key role in building trusted relationships with clients.

Natasha Devlin-Clingham

Natasha first joined Gatehouse Chambers in 2007 as a post room assistant, and was promoted following a Chambers restructure in 2009. Following a short period as a Fees Manager, Natasha has been a member of the Practice Management Team since 2013.Natasha works alongside the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team to develop and promote chambers’ specialist practice areas, with a particular focus on clinical negligence, inquests and inquiries, construction, and insurance.

Jim Findley

Jim Findley joined Gatehouse Chambers in March 2023 as a Practice Manager.Jim is responsible for the day to day management of the members’ diaries, agreeing fees and also assisting the Senior Practice Managers and Practice Director in the development of the individual practices of members within the Property and Private Client Teams.

Lily Foster

Lily joined Gatehouse Chambers in November 2025.Her main duties include the day-to-day running of the teams, diary management, listing hearings and assisting the Senior Practice Managers in the development of the individual practices of members within the CDR, Construction, Insurance, Professional Liability, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Teams.

Marc Gilby

Marc joined Chambers in March 2023 as a Practice Manager for Chambers’ CDR and Insolvency Teams. Marc has over a decade worth of experience having previously worked in two leading sets.

Marc Griffin

Marc joined Chambers in October 2022 . He was promoted to Practice Manager in November 2024.

Amanda Illing

Amanda’s role as CEO of Gatehouse Chambers is to take a lead in the strategic development and management of chambers and to implement its business plan. She takes a key role with colleagues in developing business and long-lasting relationships with clients. She takes responsibility for the recruitment of and career development of the barristers and her staff team.Amanda was previously the Private Secretary to the Director of Public Prosecutions and a caseworker in the Crown Prosecution Service, handling cases such as the second and successful appeal of the Birmingham Six, and the first corporate manslaughter prosecution following the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise.Amanda was awarded Legal 500’s prestigious Senior Clerk/Chief Executive of the Year Award 2019. She has sat on the panel of judges of the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards since 2018 and was featured in ADR ODR International’s Inspirational Women Series (2018). She won the Silver Award for Inspirational Woman of the Year at the 2015 Citywealth Power Women Awards and the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Award 2013 (Non-Lawyer of the Year).Amanda is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She is an accredited ADR ODR mediator. In 2022 Amanda joined the Steering Committee of the Greener Litigation Pledge, an initiative to reduce the environmental impact of dispute resolution.Amanda spends time mentoring and supporting people to increase their opportunities to access rewarding careers at or for the Bar. Amanda has spent many years building inclusive working environments to recruit and nurture talent. She supports FreeBar, a forum focused on LGBTQ+ people and their allies. She is a personal signatory to the ERA Pledge, a gender diversity initiative to promote equal representation in arbitration. Amanda is also an ambassador and mentor for the MB Diversity Leadership Foundation.

Adam Macdonald

Adam Macdonald joined Gatehouse Chambers as Practice Manager in April 2023 following ten years at another civil set of chambers.Adam is responsible for the day to day running of members’ practices including diary management, liaising with clients, courts and agreeing fees, as well as assisting the Senior Practice Managers and Practice Director in the promotion and development of the practices of members within his team and chambers. He is mainly assigned to the Private Client and Professional Liability Teams, however, is happy to assist with all enquiries as necessary.

Amy McClean

Amy McClean was appointed to Senior Practice Manager in October 2024. She has over 18 years of industry experience in barristers’ chambers.Amy works alongside the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team to develop and promote chambers’ specialist practice areas, with a particular focus on commercial, insolvency, construction, insurance, employment, and costs work.Amy has completed her BTEC in chambers administration, passing each unit with a distinction.In addition to practice management, Amy plays a pivotal role in career development for both members of chambers and contributes to practice group committees, with a particular focus on social mobility, equality & diversity, and well-being.

Patrick Sarson

Patrick joined Gatehouse Chambers in 2014 and was appointed to Senior Practice Manager in 2022.Patrick is responsible for the management and development of our barristers’ practices, and for the promotion of specialist practice areas, working closely with the Practice Director and Senior Management Team to implement chambers’ wider strategic goals. He has a particular focus on our Property, Private Client and Professional Negligence teams, but can advise across the full breadth of chambers’ work and has in-depth knowledge of our members’ expertise.In both 2022 and 2024, Patrick was shortlisted for Clerk of the Year at the Legal 500 Bar Awards. Patrick won the Chambers Professional of the Year at the Advocate Bar Pro Bono Awards in 2021, and he has a particular interest in and commitment to access to justice. Patrick is involved in Gatehouse’s EDI initiatives and CSR programme and is a key contact for any clients wishing to collaborate in those spaces.
