James specialises in crime and enjoys a busy practice, both prosecuting and defending. He is often instructed in cases which are beyond his year of call and has had success before the Court of Appeal.

James’ recent and ongoing instructions include:

• Causing death by dangerous driving • Drugs conspiracies and importations • Rape and serious sexual offences, including historical allegations • Serious violence including s.18 GBH/wounding with intent • Firearms • Blackmail and false imprisonment • High-value conspiracies to burgle and steal • Fraud

James is a Grade 3 Prosecutor. He is also a RASSO Panel Advocate and has equal experience in defending such cases, including those which involve pre-recorded cross-examination.

The success in James’ work is commensurate with his thorough preparation and ability to quickly grasp the real issues in any case, including those which are factually or legally complex.
